More than 18 million Indonesian people lack access to safe water and more than 20 million lack access to proper sanitation. Fortunately, there is a growing urgency due to national targets for universal access to safe water and sanitation by 2024, and both the public and private sectors are recognizing that financing for household water and sanitation solutions is a growing need. Realizing this need the ADAPTING staff has designed two types of desalination water processes. Both are shown below

WATER SCARCITY IN EAST NUSA TENGGARA
In the country's regions of Bali, Java and Nusa Tenggara, areas facing water scarcity are predicted to rise from 6% in 2000 to 9.6% in 2045, according to a 2019 study by Indonesia's National Development Planning Agency
In 2021 Extreme drought triggers water crisis in East Nusa Tenggara
"Five villages in Rote Ndao regency in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) are suffering from clean water shortages as a result of extreme drought.
Deskiel Haning of the Rote Ndao Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) said the five villages were Holulai, Nentenaen, Meoain, Lifuleo and Pukuafu. They had experienced extreme drought for more than 60 days.
The water crisis has been ongoing since July, he said on Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
The agency has been regularly distributing clean water to residents of the five villages in order to mitigate the water scarcity.
Authorities also urged villagers to only use clean water for drinking and bathing.
The clean water comes from tanks owned by the Rote Ndao BPBD and [an unidentified] third party, said Deskiel.
Several other villages in the regency have also requested Rote Ndao administrations assistance in providing clean water. Deskiel went on to say that authorities were trying to fulfill those requests as soon as possible."

The above shown filtration system may be used in a location like East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia as all the filtration materials are locally available.
The cleanouts are used to remove the brine waste from the filtration unit. It is toxic and appropriate safety measures must be used to protect the cleanout crew.
This is an ideal system for small to medium size tribal villages.
